Logeshen Moorgan, aka Fourmï Rouz, is a groundbreaking DJ/broadcaster/curator from the multiethnic subtropical island of Mauritius. With recent publications on Trax Magazine, The Ransom Note and Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel, Logeshen recently toured Europe and India with portentous performances at the 39th edition of Trans Musicales festival (Rennes), Fusion Festival (Germany) or Jodhpur Riff (Rajasthan’s International Folk Festival).
Currently, he is the maitre d’oeuvre for creating a regional artistic collaboration amongst the islands of the Indian Ocean, aiming to preserve, revamp and disseminate their unique musical heritage throughout the world. Culminating in eminent partnerships with the likes of Nickodemus and Lefto, Maxi’s worldwide musical excursion has, over the past decade, consolidated his reputation as one of the most avant-garde trendsetting artists in the region.
LOGESHEN’S WORLDWIDE MUSICAL EXCURSION:
Logeshen’s seminal work begins in his teenage years, when his innate musical taste combined with prolific digging skills trigger a wave of musical discovery and inspiration amongst his Mauritian peers - several of whom have since become firmly established international DJs.
His exodus began in 2007, when he left Mauritius for the UK to study Philosophy and Psychology, with a special interest in Musical Psychology. At university, he inevitably ends up rubbing shoulders with budding artists such as Flux Pavilion and ODJ Box, whilst making his first DJ steps in the London ‘underground’ music scene. A lot of his free time is spent in record shops, in search of timeless, obscure, hypnotising, emotion-filled vinyl-only gems from around the world – a true reflection of his musical essence.
Post studies, Logeshen spends a character-forging three-year stint in Eastern Europe, swinging regularly between venues, festivals and radio stations in Lithuania, Germany and Poland. Career-wise, he shifts from musical dilettante extraordinaire to full-time globetrotting artist living on, and for, his passion.
Since his return to the tropics, Fourmï Rouz has also been focussing on promoting upcoming local artists, whilst playing a pivotal role in creating a touring circuit within the Indian Ocean and Southern Africa for international music producers to experiment with regional talents.
