Following sold out singles ‘Threads/I’m So Unclean’ and ‘Telling Lies’, Evans the Death return with their third single from their eponymous debut album. ‘Catch Your Cold’ sees the band continue where ‘Telling Lies’ left off; a blistering, hook-laden song swathed in psych-fuzz guitars and lo-fi exuberance. Revved-up basslines and frenetic drums give the track a garage rock rattle, whilst vocalist Katherine Whitaker is all nonchalant charisma and reckless abandon.
B-side to the single is the anarchic ‘Crying Song’, which features comedian Stewart Lee in lachrymose mood as takes lead vocals so to speak, sobbing uncontrollably for just under 90 seconds.
The band have come a long way since recording the album in the Summer of 2011 with producer Rory Atwell (Veronica Falls, Male Bonding, The Vaccines). With several UK tours and festival shows under their belt, Evans the Death have enjoyed extensive airtime on Radio One, 6 Music and made John Kennedy’s ‘Xposure Big One’ on XFM.
Evans the Death released their self-titled debut album in April 2012 via Fortuna POP! in the UK / Europe and Slumberland Records in the US. Filled with twelve blistering tracks they weave a distinctive magic, coupling main songwriter Dan Moss’ gift for melody with Katherine Whitaker’s unique vocal mannerisms. The album received glowing reviews in Artrocker,Drowned In Sound, Q, Uncut and This is Fake DIY, as well as in the music press across the Atlantic. Both the urgent, latent-cold-war-paranoia love-song ‘Threads’, and the scathingly acerbic ‘I’m so Unclean’, feature on the album, as does the exhilarating ‘Telling Lies’. The record is chock-full of bona fide classics, from the hi-octane opener ‘Bo Diddley’ and the epic ‘Morning Voice’ (on which Katherine's vertiginous vocal delivery is given free rein), to the intangibly moving album closer ‘You’re Joking’, the only song on the album penned by Dan's brother Olly. Constant gigging, including support slots with The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, has helped to hone their performances into thrilling, energy-packed live shows.
Named after the undertaker in Dylan Thomas's Under Milk Wood, Evans the Death comprise of Dan Moss (guitar, vocals), Katherine Whitaker (vocals, keys), Olly Moss (guitar and bass) and Rob Mitson (drums).
“There’s sharp songwriting at play here. The hooks are all in the right place, brash and urgent in the very best way.” This Is Fake DIY“a wonderful marriage of converse elements elegantly crafted into its own neat mess” ***** Artrocker

‘Sparkling…Morning Voice and I’m So Unclean are terrific anthems, but the stand-out is the emotive and all-too-brief You’re Joking’ Uncut
