Footprints Music, UK Drum & Bass label - run by Zero T / Tolerance.
ZERO T PROFILE:
In late ’99, just as Zero T’s vinyl debut was dropping on Bassbin001, the Mercury/Mobo award winners 4 Hero snapped up some tracks that he and new cohort Beta 2 had done. This lead to an EP and a 12? on Reinforced, the daddy of all DnB labels and not a bad start at all. Soon Zero T and Beta2 were getting to meet the likes of Klute, Fabio, Total Science, Goldie, Digital, Bailey, Flight, Storm, Doc Scott and so on. By 2001 releases were coming thick and fast on labels like Subtitles, Commercial Suicide, Function and Advanced…A noteworthy breakthrough was had with Zero T’s remix of disco classic ‘ Spread Love ‘ by Lenny Fontana which appeared on the seminal Plastic Surgery series on Hospital Records.
Along with establishing themselves as ‘the Irish Guys’ in DNB land, a certain Dominic Martin aka Calibre had been helping them out along the way. Zero T and Calibre met in 99/2000 through mutual friends and kept in touch all the while. This has since led to many collaborations with the little genius, notably the Waterfall 12? on Signature which was a big hit in 06…
Fwd to 2007 and Zero T relocated to London, working closely with Bryan G and Jumping Jack Frost’s V Recordings Camp, Artificial Intelligence’s Integral Records and started a solo artist LP for Total Science’s CIA imprint. The Resulting LP “Cheap Shots” is releases in June 08 to critical acclaim across the board. Heavily featured is Dublin Vocalist Steo, his falsetto tones gracing the Single 12? ‘WALK AWAY’. Other contributors included Alix Perez, MC Conrad, Icicle, Bailey, Break and Riya (then called “Ell”)…
2008 – 2011 has seen Zero T release music on such seminal imprints as Shogun Audio (including an appearance on the Alix Perez LP 1984), Subtitles (alongside new sensations Ulterior Motive), Critical (with Shogun’s new assassin Rockwell), DJ Hype’s legendary Tru PLayaz, Integral (Radio1 playlisted ‘Refusal’ feat. Steo) Noisia’s Invisible and also tour extensively worldwide (including Japan twice)
2010 saw his own label Footprints appear as a platform for his own music and from other artists. So far this includes Calibre, ST Files, Mark System, Need For Mirrors, Beta 2 and UK band All Thieves
A major coup was had in June 2010 when he mixed and compiled FABRICLIVE52 for the esteemed London venue/label. Covering not just the spectrum of DnB, but a sprinkle of dubstep, garage, house and techno in there too, all exclusively sourced from the producers themselves.
Also during this period remixes were commissioned of two UK bands All Thieves and One EskimO (both associated with Rolo from Faithless),Slam classic ‘Positive Education’, tracks by Dillinja and Lemon D along with a plethora of other artists and labels from Cornwall to Cologne , from New Zealand to the UK.
2012 will see more releases on Footprints, starting with PRINT005 The RE-MINDER EP feat 4 tracks from Zero T + Beta 2 .Expect plenty of releases on other Drum and Bass labels along with explorations into slower tempo’s and new musical directions.
