CITY Toronto CITY is a Toronto-based Hip Hop artist whose upbringing is brought centre stage in his music. Coming from a neighbourhood with a past plagued by socio-political failures of the system, including drug abuse, crime and other nefarious activity, City’s music is bleak and ominous. It encompasses themes of the grind and the struggle of both his family and his peers, and leans into what it truly means to be street conscious in 2020 and beyond. Sonically, his beats are equally as dark, cinematically provocative with its fair share of moody atmospherics, tough grooves and wittiness. City’s foray into music began as early as 15. He’s always been fascinated with music and draws influence from both his upbringing in school home and church. The fire in his belly to create stems from unjust altercations with the police as a kid, and he channels that release through music. Above all, he is driven to achieve his goals.
