FlashP Patrick Frankfurt / Main When I was 12 I was dreaming being DJ and give the perfect and compelling music to the crowd. With 14 I had only a small old mixer and two standard turntables which I speeded up ore retarded to mix the records. At this time I started to sign my records with a flashing “P” and my alias was born. When I was 16 I became DJ in a well-known club in Mannheim city for the early Sunday evening. I passed trough different clubs, dance bars, genres and witnessed several political changes. Also the crowd changed -from my view of point- negative, related to the quality of music. Mainstream and billboard became prevalence. Melodies and genius died with evermore shows by the actors, impelled by huge companies with a huge budget for public relations. The radio stations followed this profit way and forgot for what they are and where they come from. The crowd started refusing to dance to unknown but really good tracks. More and more the crowd asked only for tunes which they knew from the frequently play of the radio stations. The clubs died and huge large-capacity discotheques became trendy. With 26 I quit and did only gigs at cafés with dance music. I grew up with Funk from late 70s and early 80s and Funk became my all-time No. 1. But I passed also trough pop music of the early 80s, electronic funk, R&B, Disco, some good old-school hip-hop, new wave, body music (the beginning of techno), acid, house, ambient and a bit of drum&bass. Ever I will listen to jazz, soul and also to classical things as operas like Puccini, Vivaldi and Schubert. I would never refuse to listen to a song, because I have never heard of it or its performer. So I also be attentive to genres which I have not listed, like rock, hard rock, metal, folk and alternative, even country. For those who may ask why I do not post some mixes or remixes (I have some good ideas) I want to explain: in Germany it is problematic to publish music without having the rights to. There are several rules and regulations which must be kept. But you are always very close to illegality. So unfortunately I preferred to do it by my own. Take care of you!
