Flake Off Nicky Falkof Johannesburg A repository for recordings of amazing bands that are no more. Those Bad Ideas were a lo-fi Brighton-based trio playing unexpected cover versions and the occasional folky original. Featuring me on vocals, David Ockwell on guitar/vocals and Joe Sharp on bass/guitar/vocals/trumpet/pianet/everything else. All tracks recorded live in December 2011 by Raz Olsher at Fossil Studios (www.fossilstudios.net). Sadly defunct due to a combination of Fleetwood Maccery and singer's defection to South Africa. The Alright Alreadies were the UK's first and finest klezmer-reggae crossover six-piece, featuring Rachael Diop on clarinet, Bob Karper on accordion, Charlie Place on bass, Andrew Beatmeister Gardiner on drums, Jimmy The Lips Donaldson on trumpet and me on vocals. Recorded live at two studios in South London that I have completely forgotten. Sadly defunct due to band members living in four different cities and having, at last count, at least seven small children between them. Groundswell were a four-piece late '90s Cape Town rock ensemble featuring David Schmukler on drums and songwriting, Anton-whose-last-name-I-don't-remember on guitar, Paul-whose-last-name-I-don't-remember-but-introduced-me-to-Bill-Withers on bass and me on vocals. Had a bottle of Jamesons with my name scrawled on it on a shelf in the place in Obs where we did a regular slot. Sadly defunct due to singer running off to England and also 20+ years of LIFE MAN.
