FKCLUB Astrolab / Labelle records / Relish An FKclub set is like an American car speeding through a desert at the edge of the ocean, palm trees to the left, a huge drop to the right and lights far off in the distance. There's no point in heading to L.A. if you want to get acquainted with the driver, even if you were to have the chance to meet him there; you can easily catch Marc Lapeyre in his home studio in Marseille, a couple of steps away from the cherry tree that shelters his friends as they fire up the bbq. Creating something bright out of darkness? That's it, without doubt; the hedonistic dark side that lies at the bottom of FKclub's mental and yet visceral music: whether it's his solo DJ sets or his live shows with Antoine Germain the martial, exultant drummer. In a basement that is never entirely in the dark, Marc tinkers with his modular synths and juggles with his guitar pedals to play with sounds. Surrounding himself with his pet instruments, the man isn't picky, mixing digital and acoustic sound to find his own ambiance, his sound, melody and placement of vocals.
