Fires of Denmark Michael Terrill Rochester Born, raised, and still residing in Rochester, MN, Terrill has played every role possible in a small music scene on the up-and-up: fronting bands, backing other artists, recording, producing, mixing, booking and promoting shows…the list goes on. And though Med City lacks a large music industry presence, Terrill has scored wins that would be impressive on any musician’s resume: opening slots for national acts like Owl City, Dessa, and Caroline Smith, commercial music placements for brands like Caribou Coffee and Mayo Clinic, and even a song on an episode of This American Life. But it’s in Fires of Denmark’s soundscapes where the musical jack-of-all trades feels most at home. On Relativity, due out in October of 2021, recorded during a week-long stay at the Frank Lloyd Wright house in Wisconsin, Terrill and his backing band The Technical Imperfections (comprising, amongst others, his life partner Sheila Terrill and BFF Nick Truxal) lay out a captivating sound. Driven by hypnotic beats and pulsating basslines, Relativity pairs the influence of Jonny Greenwood’s synthesizers and guitars with those LCD Soundsystem's drum machines. Over the course of nine songs, the album delivers an eclectic listening experience, replete with analogue synth slow-jams, meditative piano chords, and festival-ready singalongs where Terrill’s reverb-soaked vocals ruminate on time’s relentless march forward.
