Tacita Dean in conversation with Jeremy Millar by FVU published on 2013-10-03T09:44:47Z Tacita Dean’s portrait of the poet and translator Michael Hamburger was filmed, at his home in rural Suffolk, in the last year of his life. Set against muted autumn colours, and with Hamburger performing an evocative, anecdotal inventory of the harvest from his apple orchard, the piece is a bittersweet reminder of time’s passing that deftly captures, and quietly honours, an exemplary 20th century literary figure. Following the screening, Dean looks back at the film, and its subject, in the company of artist and writer, Jeremy Millar. This event falls within Film and Video Umbrella's '25 Frames' programme of screenings and special events. The programme celebrates 25 years as an independent organisation and highlights stand-out pieces from the organisation’s past, as well as re-staging and re-evaluating works for the present. As part of 25 Frames, Film and Video Umbrella will be producing a small-scale retrospective publication dedicated to Michael Hamburger, featuring a new text by Brian Dillon. http://www.fvu.co.uk/projects/michael-hamburger Genre Tacita Dean
