Famous Framus Famous Framus Hamilton Soul Miner...Blues Projector...Three Chords and the Truth Teller... A phrase has been often used to describe the rootsy songwriting style of Famous Framus (A.K.A. Michael Brent MaGarrey): "He is a throwback who plays how he feels, and feels how he plays". Born in the late 60’s in Hamilton Ontario, he grew up fast on the streets of the “Gritty City”. As a teenager he was mesmerized by a man who would come to family parties and play guitar and sing old country songs at the kitchen table all night. This left a lasting impression. He cashed the first “real” paycheck he ever got and bought an acoustic guitar. A couple of years of wood-shedding the basics followed. He put the guitar down for the next few years to concentrate on working in a steel mill, breaking things, and generally raising hell. Famous Framus picked up his guitar again in his late 20’s and began to get serious about songwriting and performing, playing solo acoustic shows around Hamilton and opening for legends like Willie P. Bennett, Ray Materick, Bob Snider, Watermelon Slim, and Arthur Brown. Framus' magic milieu is live performance, playing shows from Ottawa to Victoria and all points between since 2003. Having written well over 100 original songs his constant examination of self and surroundings, and the mining of the soul are the keys to his muse.
