fakeyourowndeath San Francisco FAKE YOUR OWN DEATH You don’t have to actually die to start over, but you might have to pretend to. Our friend Alex describes Fake Your Own Death songs as, “small stories about misfits and the collapse of meaning, then there’s layers of reverb and infectious beats to create an alluring patchwork of uneasiness and romantic nostalgia.” Our better friend August describes the band as, “what happens when love and rockets’ tour bus gets over run with the living dead in Tijuana.” FYOD has been compared to bands like Echo and the Bunnymen, Sonic Youth, The National and Jesus and Mary Chain by both local and national press. Sometimes the members of FYOD teach English. FYOD has played with bands like The Warlocks, Blood Red Shoes, Film School, White Denim, Bob Mould and Gang of Four. FYOD sometimes plays under the name El Terrible which was Terry’s nickname when he was a short order cook at a Sizzler. Fake Your Own Death is Terry Ashkinos and Scott Eberhardt. Fake Your Own Death have a record out called Invisible and Bulletproof (Monolathe Recordings 2013) and El Terrible has a record out called What Rough Beast (Breakup Records 2015). They are currently working on a record to be released in 2017. Go see Fake Your Own Death now, so you can say you saw them when. "First up was Fake Your Own Death. What surprised me about them, then, is how good they are. Their songs are really good, like if Interpol decided to play faster and have some hard rock riffs. The vocals had a tinge of early Elvis Costello." (Spinning Platters) " I couldn't have been more impressed with Fake Your Own Death. The music is a mix of Joy Division, Love and Rockets and The National with brief moments of Interpol thrown in. This three piece debuted songs from their forthcoming album to a sizable crowd which was really great to see... I haven't been this excited about a local group in quite some time. Get to know them." (Front Porch Musings) “El Terrible's music is dark and dense. It's indie rock with a bit of post-punk terrible.” (SF Gate) “What Rough Beast accelerates past the raw spareness of their debut EP, Cut, speeding deeper into the complex literary darkness that's become Terry's home territory.” (Boing Boing) “What Rough Beast is the new album by Terry Ashkinos of Fake Your Own Death which began when Ashkinos was in Berlin studying the fall of communism with the aid of the US government. Ashkinos' booming, sometimes droning voice leads the way to create outstanding dark moments throughout.” (Bay Area Bridged) fakeyourowndeath’s tracks Doing Crimes by fakeyourowndeath published on 2019/01/31 04:47:13 +0000 1 Bottles Of Bottles by fakeyourowndeath published on 2018/03/11 01:51:44 +0000 2 Cut by fakeyourowndeath published on 2018/03/11 01:51:42 +0000 3 Little Lies by fakeyourowndeath published on 2018/03/11 01:51:41 +0000 4 Here's The Story by fakeyourowndeath published on 2018/03/11 01:51:39 +0000 5 Last Cab by fakeyourowndeath published on 2018/03/11 01:51:37 +0000 6 Few Plus One by fakeyourowndeath published on 2018/03/11 01:50:32 +0000 Bottles by fakeyourowndeath published on 2018/02/12 16:54:29 +0000 We Know Your Name by fakeyourowndeath published on 2018/02/12 16:47:28 +0000 Tijuana by fakeyourowndeath published on 2018/02/07 20:51:28 +0000
