Fae Wiedenhoeft takes her listeners on a musical journey through history & tradition.
Compared & influenced by the greats:
Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Mary Black, & Sandy Denny, Fae’s song stories are a must for fans of Celtic Folk!"
I have been singing since before I could form words. After years of private concerts in my backyard for squirrels and friends, I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre Performance from Roosevelt University in Chicago. During this time, I actively performed with professional and community theatre companies. Upon graduation, I was offered a contract in Victoria, BC to sing at the World Famous Buchart Gardens for three consecutive summers with a well known Celtic band, Kitangus. My stay in British Columbia kick started my teaching career as well as prompted songwriting and many other music projects. I have composed original music as well as performed on five CDs recorded, manufactured, and sold in Canada. Stateside, I have released twelve CDs: nine solo albums, 4 albums with my Seattle based band SeaStar.
SeaStar is my little band with Captain Chambers and Michael Falcone. We are also known as the Dublin Three. We have had a great time playing together at lots of venues around the Pacific Northwest, the Midwest and Ireland! We are currently working on our 5th release with Pat Sample at Paradise Sound in Index WA.
In 2010, with George Sadak, produced by Ottoman Dance & Music Productions, we recorded a Middle Eastern Christmas album called Christmas Tapestry - East Meets West. It has been very successful in the dance community. I loved working on this album as it was a great challenge to take traditional carols and arrange them with Middle Eastern rhythms and players.
My Canadian duo called Syren with my dear sister, Melody Benbow, is still playing the Ren Faire circuits as well as Northwest FolkLife. We have 2 albums together and we are working hard to finish our Lullaby album. We hope to have that out early next year.
My studio, called Syren's Voice, resides in a 1923 train caboose. I teach voice, guitar, bodhran, penny whistle, and offer songwriting and Celtic Studies classes. I also do small recordings for students as well as put on acting summer camps. I absolutely love my job and my students. They teach me so much about life!
When I am not teaching or performing in the Pacific Northwest, Canada, or abroad, I am a wife, a photographer, a painter and a graphic designer. I am always up for a cuppa tea and a good chat as well as a good storytelling session. I currently have the travel bug and my daydreams have been becoming realities. My life has been a very lucky one with wonderful people, love, travel, musical friends, and adventure. I am thankful for it everyday.
