F5D - Prophet '08 Demo Some sounds that I programmed with my DSI Prophet '08 analog synthesizer. More sounds compared to the first upload. Totally unquantized, recorded while testing the sounds.

@tetrachord: The signal route was P08 -> TC D-Two A/D (possibly with phase reversed delay) -> Logic -> Relab LX480 reverb -> limiting. It is true that the fx used also glues the sound a little bit, but using pitch and filter modulation with the P08 is the key to thicker sound.

May I ask how did you record this? Did you use DI box or mic pre? What converters? Did you use any saturation? Just wondering cos I never liked how DSI sounds, but this sounds great!

@analogdigital: Agree to that. That is why I keep the 08 and dont buy the 6. the 6 has not a fundamentally different sound, so the high price is not justified imo.

@brian-s-rowe: Thank you for the kind words! The Prophet '08 is a fantastic instrument. Although I have the P12 too, I cannot part with the P'08, because it is still more powerful and analog-sounding synth. Although the new Prophet 6 will have real VCOs and discrete filters, it has much less mod capabilities, so I doubt that it can go much further in sound (just different), if utilizing all the power on offer inside the Prophet '08.

Love this (and I love my '08, too!) Your examples here go a long way to showing that (A) yes, the '08 can do bass and (B) yes, it's also a warm + lovely instrument! Absolutely a joy to play and expressive, too.

@f5d: Well done. I like the Prophet 6, but honestly every demo I've heard of it can't compare to the original vintage prophets - it sounds nearly identical to the Prophet 08. But most people are hyped over the Prophet 6 because it looks like a vintage Prophet.

@analogdigital: Thanks. That is the results of using a lot of the mod matrix to build the character that is missing in the basic tone. Prophet 6 does not have as much modulation capabilities as Prophet 08, but it has different character. It will be interesting to see how they actually compare. It is sure that the Prophet 6 has stronger character compared to Propohet 08, if no modulations are used, but the situation is different, when the Prophet 08 mod routings are utilized to give it the character it deserves.

@dswo: Yes I still have plans to release soundsets, but it is taking more time to finalize the website and the sets than I thought first. Currently, I cannot give an estimate, but I am working on it. :)

I believe the Blade Runner patch has 2 saws and envelope to open the filter. However, it is somewhat critical with different settings to start growling in the proper way.
