Imagining Australia with 100% renewable energy: how do we get there? by Experience ANU published on 2020-02-25T00:29:01Z Australia has recently installed PV and wind at a rate above 5 GW per year (200 Watts per person per year), which is 4 times faster per capita than the EU, China, USA or Japan. Decarbonising the electricity grid is an important first step to zero emissions – because the clean electricity can power transport, industry, and even the chemical industry. Demand for our exports will change as other countries decarbonise. Australia has good wind and solar resources by international standards – but is it feasible to export large amounts of solar and wind energy? What could the future hold – and what needs to change to get us there? 17 February 2020
