Nearly a decade ago, Erick Neutron was introduced to Djing by a stroke of luck. In his early years, he started out as many Djs have in the past, through another Dj. After two years of bedroom lockdown and numerous cassettes full of mixes and cuts, he introduced himself to the world and has not look back since.
After achieving a following amongst his peers during his high school days, he moved on to clubs at the age of 15.
“I remember the promoters sneaking me in through the back and assigning a security guard to make sure I didn’t leave the dj booth and tried to have a drink.”
So where did the name Neutron come from?
“Its not my last name. Back in High School, I was a big geek. I wore glasses, honors classes, I was a part of ASB, the whole nine yards. But you could never tell because of the group of friends I surrounded myself with. So one day of hanging out with the boys, we were ripping on each other as usual and someone said I look like Jimmy Neutron’s brother. It was an instant hit! It just stuck with me and it eventually led to being my Dj name. But as the years have gone by I really follow my name as for what it represents, in chemistry terms at least. A neutral element only attracts the positive, and that what I try to surround myself with.”
For the years to come, his story is typical: Speaker hauling, long nights, crate digging, bad pay and shady promoters. So what sets Erick Neutron apart? His attitude.
He is infectious. His positive smile and demeanor has elevated him into a level where he can focus on achieving his main goal as a performer; to make sure everyone has a great time. His peers will tell you he has the ability to bring the party and/or turn it up a notch, regardless of the environment. His ability to adapt to various situations, from trendy Hollywood elite, to Festivals 20,000+, has also set him apart from others as an up and comer to look out for in the next few years. His style is difficult to describe without going into the discrepancies of labels. With his skills and talent accomplished early in his career, it has allowed him to venture into other aspects of music, Including production under the alias Summa Laude with his good friend and partner.
