A duo formed in 2017 as the product of collaboration between a Japanese and an European, “ENGMNT” has continued to expand across the dance music scene.
One member, Tomo Hirata, is based in Tokyo and is a skilled and longstanding producer of dance music. He is well known for his production of the theme song for the famed Japanese horror movie “Ring” which became a hit on the pop charts and is still beloved even 20 years later. In 2014, Tomo released “Taiko,” featuring a traditional Japanese drum sound, on French label DJ Center Records; the song was well received and supported by well-known international DJs such as Laidback Luke and Sydney Samson.As a DJ, he is also very accomplished. He was a resident DJ at the legendary party “X-tra,” held in the Liquid Room. He also played regularly at the very first gigantic Japanese EDM party held in the world famous ageHa called “EDM States.” Currently, he is introducing cutting edge dance music to Japan as a host of Futuregroove FM ‘s weekly radio show called “Taiko Radio”.
The duo’s other member, Yavor Topchiev, achieved success in his DJ career through such things as Alpha Radio, Cacao Beach and Comics Club in his native Bulgaria. In 2012, he took things to the next level and introduced his stage name “Hotlife” to the scene. His tracks “Feel,” “Take Me Away,” and “Between These Walls,” have all been supported by Tiesto who has referred to Hotlife as a “talented and upcoming producer.”
These two amazing producers/DJs collaborated for the first time on their track “One Last Time” featuring Jonny Rose in 2015. This tune was picked up by twoloud’s Playbox label and supported by many international top DJs such as Dash Berlin, Yves V, Swanky Tunes and Manse. The song reached No.14 on Beatport’s Progressive House charts and has 380,000 plays on Spotify.
In the same year, they also released “Got You” feat. Anna Yvette, which was supported by Don Diablo and Tritonal, consequently reaching 500,000 plays on Spotify.
During 2016, they consumed much of their time actively producing and preparing for a new direction for their music ultimately culminating in the establishment of “ENGMNT” as a permanent project.
Though from completely different backgrounds, together they bring Future Dance that reaches beyond the genres of Bass Music, House, Trance, Pop and anything. You can expect many new tracks from them during 2017.
