A ghost song

Silver Shadows..

I was standing at a wedding,
I was standing at a feast,
Tables white, heaped high with blossoms
and the air was full of sighing

I can feel you all around me
on my skin and in my hair,
I can taste the bitter warning I can hear the fading voices
all those ribbons that we held up to the sky

In our woman dreaming days of children’s laughter
in our goddess-loving scatter tears as scarlet leaves are falling
It’s a dream of silver shadows in a maze of troubled smiles
and I feel you, all around me, on my skin and in the perfume of my hair

I am bursting with the broken bottles forced inside my skin
how the pale grey apples drip upon the trees
forgotten and so tired, none to pick and none to choose
Strangers hold you in their arms, it’s not the way that you would wish
for it to be..

I feel you ,all around me..

Half-hidden in the shadows, you bewitch and you bewilder,
apart and yet a dusty dream of shadow undefined
I pursue and I am driven, I subside again, half-hidden
