Emily Haw
Emily 侯君秀 is a singer-songwriter from Singapore. Her style is influenced by the likes of Owl City and Utada Hikaru, blending a unique sound of Chinese Electronic Pop. Also a free lance voice actress, she has acted, written and sung on the opening and ending songs of the Japanese-Singapore web-based animation series, Gacha Gacha, titled “Mirai (The Future)” and “Tomodachi (Friend)” respectively. In 2008, she performed at the Singapore Toy & Comic Convention and Cosfest.
In 2012, Emily released a Chinese drama series, Waiting (等), in an unprecedented photo-audio format, for which she has written and performed on the opening and ending tracks “Waiting (等)” and “Time Travel (时间旅行)”. Waiting is a song, a web mini-series, an exhibition, and a fund raising community project for the Singapore Red Cross Home for the Disabled. Emily is also the creator, director, producer and co-writer of the series. She was featured and interviewed by Channel News Asia, The Straits Times, The New Paper, major radio stations YES933FM, Love972FM, UFM100.3FM, Live938FM and magazines I-weekly, U-weekly. Come 2015, Emily will release her debut Mandarin EP Brave Tears (勇敢的淚), consisting of Waiting (等) and four new tracks, including (MOTHER), a Chinese rendition of the original song written by Japanese singer-songwriter Yumemi Ikeda. A first time collaboration between the two female singer-songwriters, (MOTHER) is a universal song written to express her love and gratitude for her mother’s tireless efforts in taking care of the family.
The digital album will be available on all major platforms including iTunes and Spotify. The Chinese version of (Mother) has also been released on Sony Japan’s music site, Mora.jp.
