Jerry Bouthier - RESIS.TANZ - LIGHT MIX - Best of Emerald & Doreen 2020 by Emerald & Doreen Records published on 2020-12-18T10:59:56Z Emerald & Doreen Records Tracklist: https://open.spotify.com/album/3w6OswRyxj3fmTMyxvaNnK?si=eQsIspiyRXeezMUfQ9Yf3A RESIS.TANZ - Dark & Light Mixes German label Emerald & Doreen welcomes once more Jerry Bouthier to mix its best releases of the year as a means to reflect its vibrant state of play. For the occasion the French DJ/producer has crafted not one but two 1h mixes as a couple of fairly distinct perspectives increasingly characterise the imprint's output. One may claim this significant pairing of like-minded individuals was destined to be, not least for a shared appreciation of the chronic interactions of all things indie and dance. Part of the Kitsuné family, sound-designer of Vivienne Westwood and other fashion labels, forever advocating balearic open-mindedness Bouthier tirelessly supports the cross-breeding of genres and the bending of conventions, bearing endless enthusiasm for what's to come next - a shared notion that runs deep within Emerald & Doreen's DNA. Most of the label's well-versed characters are showcased in the Dark & Light mixes. Amongst which are Germany's go nogo, its feverish vocalist and garlands of eloquent guitars offer the closest thing to a live band in E&D's stable (Losing You); Belix & Fela two dexterous 16 years old djs from Cologne equipped with charming sincerity (Komm Mit Raus, Keep Movin), Italian Matteo Veroni skilled elaborator of rich tonal entanglements (Berliner Sommer, Electro City), South Africa's King Bruce diligently displaying exotic savoir-faire (I Need You, Give Them), MINSTR's soul-searching eloquence (Time), Mötel an Italian in London enamoured with nostalgic euro pop (Feel). as well as Japan's Haioka, PVLOMO & Diaz Tech, Roliva, Daytona, Chinosynth feat. Yamil, CSK, the list goes on. Adding to the process Dim Zach and partner George Mavidris delivered exclusive track Summer Dream, a rework of the theme of a classic 1960s Greek road movie. Synthpop project The Sweeps put forward the luminous Sentimental Ghost. Jesuon, the idiosyncratic DJ/producer from Naples, submitted Romance and Slogan. Although somewhat antagonistic in essence the Dark & Light mixes celebrate vintage in unison: yesteryear's analogue machines of character and pedigree (old synths - like guitars - sound way better than newer ones). Assuredly the robodisco of Giorgio Moroder is never far from Emerald & Doreen's shores, that ahead of its time electronic thump which laid the foundations for techno and much of contemporary dance music. As a result both mixes cultivate futuristic mutant disco hybrids of some form, occasional ardent homages to the groundbreaking 1980s when studios were flooded with revolutionary equipment to explore and that without rulebooks anything was possible.
