Using UV-C light to destroy bacteria, viruses and fungi, the modules are indicated by large stickers on the balustrades. UVIS observed Phoenix-Center now has the first “germ-free” escalators in Germany. A post-installation survey found that 91% of shoppers said their experience was more comfortable thanks to the disinfected handrails, which also had a positive effect on the perception of safety, cleanliness and the shopping center's image. UVIS aims to expand to other shopping malls.
