Andrew Grant & Lomez - 3rdwave - Original by EDEC published on 2012/08/04 15:19:12 +0000 Andrew Grant's EDEC imprint has been somewhat of a revelation for those in the know. Over the course of its five releases the label has treated us to some of the freshest electronic sounds from artists including Egal 3, DVS1, Ryan Elliot, Jon Hester and Andrew himself. Defying the 'genre' tags, EDEC continue to surprise with each new release. After enjoying the raw techno of 005, the label chief takes us in a different direction with his latest work. Andrew once again teams up with regular sparing partner, Lomez. Over the course of the last three years the duo have released a string of singles with Minisketch, Surface Recordings and Isgud and are currently enjoying great support for their new "Has To Be Love" ep on My Favorite Robot. The duo's sound definitely has its roots in the US. "I'd describe our sound as a melting pot of Techno, infused with Baltimore Club and a dash of Old Bay seasoning" says Grant. The wonderfully deep "3rd Wave" definitely nods to the Stateside influence with its classic touches, smooth synth chords and spoken vocal drops. Who better to remix the original than New Jersey´s, DJ Qu who with his signature cut ups and splices delivers a rework to complete a perfect club package, or as the label puts it, "a great balance of a party starter and a cut that drives the party to peak time."
