Ed Blomquist
South Hamilton
I’m an experimental/improvising musician, playing guitar, bass, synth/keyboard, flute, hand percussion, computer, and recording devices… I sing, play, write, and produce, and I will try anything musical at least once… My musical and intellectual interests run to the outside of normal…
My head is way too big for my body, so I employ specially-trained birds to carry it aloft in a sling while I weave and slide along the less-travelled paths… I know where the secret treasure is buried, and I’m not telling anyone ever, unless they ply me with chocolate buddhas and dervish music…
Some favorites include, in no particular order: Gong, Daevid Allen, Steve Hillage, Brian Eno, Fennesz, Minamo, Tape, David Rothenberg, Fred Frith, Bill Frisell, Marc Ribot, Sun Ra, John Cage, Terry Riley, Harry Partch, Lou Harrison, Soft Boys, Yes, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Trance Mission, Cul De Sac, Grateful Dead, Laurie Anderson, Talking Heads, XTC, Sheila Chandra, Hermeto Pascoal, John Coltrane, Charles Mingus, Jethro Tull, Muddy Waters, Begona Olavide/Mudejar, Jordi Savall, Abdelkrim Rais, David Dunn, Radiohead, Guided By Voices, Bach, Tallis, Byrd, Steve Tibbetts, Tinariwen, Takagi Masakatsu, Juana Molina, and many, many more…
My primary musical project is Underwater Airport which you can find at www.underwaterairport.com.
