Episode 1: What is Earthcare? by Earthcare Fieldcast published on 2021-09-17T09:26:30Z In this first episode, we present the twin concepts of earthcare and fieldcasting via two short conversations. Speaking to environmental justice scholar Stefania Barca about her concept of ‘Earthcare Labour’ in her recent book The Forces of Reproduction, we explore definitions and avenues for thinking social reproduction and environmental struggles. What is Earthcare Labour, who are its subjects and workers, and what perspectives for organising and alliances does it open - transversally and translocally? Our second conversation in this show is with Tobias, a worker of the Ochsenherz solidarity farm outside Vienna in Austria. Recorded in their vegetable fields, it explores community supported agriculture and its perspectives on transformation and social reproduction. This first episode one sets us up nicely for what’s coming in our next shows - reports and reflections on agroecology, struggles for food sovereignty and La Via Campesina in Europe, as well as analyses and fieldcasts from the frontlines of climate struggle and infrastructural blockades. links: Stefania Barca's Forces of Reproduction: https://www.cambridge.org/core/elements/abs/forces-of-reproduction/BE9B0DBDC89593F3284FE3F51D3B0418 ARTE documentary about lithium mining in Portugal: https://www.arte.tv/en/videos/099874-000-A/portugal-the-dirty-truth-behind-green-cars/ Just Food Project https://ces.uc.pt/projetos/justfood/ Goodman and Salleh (2013) The ‘Green Economy’: Class Hegemony and Counter-Hegemony https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/14747731.2013.787770 Ochsenherz Community Supported Farm https://www.ochsenherz.at/ Genre News & Politics
