EHE 18.07.13 - Lawrence English (QLD)- If And When I Dreamt, It Was In Fits by Ears Have Ears published on 2013/09/17 05:35:26 +0000 Hailing from Brisbane, Lawrence English is one of Australia’s leading composers, media artists and curators. Having been actively been engaged in the development and recognition of sound art for years, English has presented works across Europe, the UK, NZ, USA, Japan and even spent a month of fieldwork in Antarctica in 2010 creating a collection of audio visual works. He has published a book about sound called Site Listening, has worked on an extensive number of public exhibitions, sound installations and events, and is also the director of the imprint and multi-arts organisation Room40, under which he outputs an eclectic catalogue of innovative artists. Under Room40 English produces the iconic OpenFrame Festival. Amongst all of his amazing projects, English is also a sound artist in his own right, with most of his works drawing on ideas of spacial field and relativity. The Wire once stated that “his use of space and silence is remarkable” – and that it is! We are very honoured to have Lawrence English contribute an exclusive soundtrack to Ears Have Ears, one he has been working on for the past few months. It’s called “If And When I Dreamt, It Was In Fits” and it’s a mix of some field recording work and modular synth pieces English has been working on for the past few months.
