Fundamental Records surprised us all this year with a massive project of 21 vinyl records called ‘Electric Eclectics’ that came available just a few days ago, however, Fundamental Records always ends every year with a special project and this time around we look to a true pioneer and one of the pillars of the modern Electro music, @CarlFinlow.
In 2017, Carl spent a good part of the year doing research and recovering many of his tracks produced in the 90s. The idea behind the process was to rescue his music from possible oblivion, stuck as they were in a dying computer language, buried on CDs and DVDs. During that time he reworked his favorite tracks and the result is what you can hear in four of the six vinyl records included in this project called 'MIDI Archeology'.
The other two records included in this new Fundamental Records box feature fantastic remixes of these recovered tracks by modern Electro heroes like @The-Exaltics, @Cygnus, @RadioactiveMan, @ADJ-808, @JensenInterceptor, @Morphology-Electronics & Sync24, @MrVelcroFastener, and @Hardfloor, as you can imagine each of the six records is essential to understanding contemporary Electro
With Fundamental Records you know, @AlekStark always keeps a surprise up his sleeve until the very last moment and DarkScienceElectro is proud to be involved in the second part of this project. Fundamental Records and Carl Finlow want YOU to be part of this project! A seventh vinyl record will be included in this new box but it will be something very special. Carl is inviting you to remix one of the tracks and be part of 'MIDI Archeology', his most ambitious project to date. All data and Ableton Live 9 projects of each of the tracks were uploaded and you have now full access to all projects and MIDI files.
There are only three rules to be part of this project:
First, deadline: 14th Dec
Second, file and Duration of your remix: wav/aiff file (no mp3), strictly under 5 minutes.
And third… Following the same spirit of the Fundamental Records project, '@MusicForTheOtherPeoplePlace', all remixes will be submitted using only an alphanumeric code in the place of artist name or title, similar to this:
This way all people will be treated as equals, anyone truly interested in being part of this project will have total security that no other external factor (like popularity) can distort the main objective of this project: select the best remixes for the seventh vinyl record that will be included in this project. Simply put, there will be no playing favorites and the winners will be selected on the strength of their remix alone.
Once Carl has chosen his six favorite remixes we will reveal the results. After that, the artists will have the choice to either disclose their names or remain unknown.
The remixes will be included on the seventh record and will be released along with the other six records featuring the remixes by The Exaltics, Cygnus, Radioactive Man, ADJ, Jensen Interceptor, Morphology & Sync24, Mr. Velcro Fastener, Hardfloor and the original tracks of Carl Finlow.
At the link below you have all info and also full access to all data and Ableton Live 9 projects of each track included in MIDI ARCHEOLOGY.
