DURCH podcast No 38 - Shaleen by DURCH

Shaleen started listening to techno music at a really young age. To her, the music and everything around it was always about togetherness, revolution, to stand up for the right things, to grow and to experience them together. This was also in her mind, when she first started SURD event series and upcoming label. She invented a feminine/queer movement in the west of Germany’s Ruhr-Area, where nothing like this existed at this point. A very significant point in her career was the moment Janein asked her to be the next member of Seelen Records. The whole crew quickly became like a second family to her. 
She released her first debut EP in early 2020 on Seelen Records, which included a Hector Oaks and a New Frames Remix. Quickly followed by the next release dropped by the Turkish label „Primus“, which stands up for women's rights. Another banging release came right after that on Brooklyn’s mighty Whirlwindtrax. 
A lot of dreams came true to Shaleen - she was playing in Germany's most wanted venue's like Institut fuer Zukunft, Distillery, About Blank, Goethebunker, Griessmühle, Pal - just to name a few - such as her first appearance at Berghain’s Säule in 2019, which was a very special moment for her. She also started to travel abroad and played gigs in foreign countries.  Her music can be described as tough, raw and energetic. It can be super dramatic, fast, or a peak time rave experience, always with a huge amount of energy included. While producing, Shaleen is trying to focus on what is coming out of herself according to the present moment. She describes music production as some kind of a way to process the deepest feelings or emotions - a love process for sure.
