Suppose it is a fitting way to start a new year by actually completing one, and for the first time this recurring one: http://disquiet.com/2017/01/05/junto-0262/ I think I spent the first half an hour looking and listening to the glasses around the house, finding one that sounded interesting with an ice cube took a few tries. I recorded about 10 small samples of me rattling the glass and cube in front of the mic. I ended up choosing just one that had an interesting rhythmic character. I used my Octatrack to make the main groove by slowing the sample down to about 1/4 speed. An additional lower 'drum & atmosphere' were made by slowing the sample even further. Background noise were made by feeding the sample into the old paulstrecth. Chords were made using a snippet and a granular synthesizer. For additional drums I chopped up the sample in ableton, fed it to both the auxiliary and trigger input of my EHX Chraspad, and then played around with the knobs. Everything was collected and 'bounced' in Ableton. Comment by Formant Nice work - I like the sound of the beat 2017-01-10T18:16:09Z Comment by schtean very nice ... hope to hear more of them! 2017-01-09T21:06:14Z
