Sound the alarm! Australia’s high-powered, high energy, dub and dancehall sub bass vessel Dubmarine are preparing to release their much anticipated début album ‘Depth of Sound’.
2010 has already packed a punch with Dubmarine having just returned from a highly successful European tour taking in shows in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and The Czech Republic through June/July. Add to that their recent nominations for a Deadly in the Best Band of 2010 category and a Q Song award, the platform is set for their long-awaited full-feature release.
Depth Of Sound features their trademark bass-driven foundations, twin trombone blasts and thunderous synth explosions, the band rocks deep dancehall, reggae, dub, and drum and bass riddims. Lead by the vocal gymnastics of indigenous superstar and Darumbal man D-Kazman, Dubmarine have a mission; to produce the sound and fury of electronic music live, in all of its bass crunching, rhythm pounding, hip shaking fiendish glory, all played by musicians, all real.
Meticulously crafted by studio wizard Andrew Stephens, Depth Of Sound is the culmination of hard work and dedication. The album covers a vast array of genres including reggae, DnB, dubstep, hip hop, dancehall, ambient, minimal and dub, creating a rich sonic soundscape and downright dirty beats.
Released in late 2009, first single Chip was greeted with a fantastic response across the board on community and alternative stations – including most played CD on 4ZzZ in March 2010 (appearing 5 times in the top 20 most played per week), Buzz box playlist on Melbourne’s PBS radio, and reputable showings on 3RRR, FBI, Radio Adelaide and RTR Fm. Chip was also used by the Dreaming Festival in their ads on Foxtel television and by Artlink’s (Indigenous Art magazine) SBS advertising.
On the gigging front, Dubmarine have had a massive 12 months. The bass cranking subsurface adventurers navigated between prime festival appearances in 5 countries and 2 continents, including Amsterdam Roots Festival (Netherlands), Mundial Festival (Netherlands), the Colours of Ostrava (Czech Republic), Alstadtfest (Germany), and the Afro Latino Festival (Belgium), as well as Woodford Folk Festival, the Dreaming Festival, Parklife, and Island Vibe to name a few.
Of course this is just the beginning!
