an ancient cosmic traveller ascended to take you on an epic journey
traveling through apocalyptical landscapes in cheerful melancholia
on purple clouds to the land of eternal mornings
with a never-ending soundscape of lucid dreams and a new tomorrow <3
THE MYTH BEHIND THE MAN:
Warte:mal started his DJ career playing in various radical collectives, social house projects and pirate parties in Copenhagen in 2012...back then he was spinning post-hip-hop, ghetto funk, glitch and psychedelic downbeat.
After getting his initiation on Fusion Festival in Germany
- he fell in love with the suave Berlin bummeltech.
Valdemar was born and raised in a social housing project in the suburbs of Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark. Growing up in a multicultural neighbourhood next to an orphanage he got exposed to Hip Hop culture from an early age. Hanging out with the juvenile delinquents next door brought a lot of mad adventures with it, ranging from exploring the myriad of sewers under the hood to treasure hunting in the industrial area across the street. And of cause a healthy amount of skating, break-dancing and graffiti.
There where no piano in his childhood home, but in Waldorf School, he learned to sing and play the flute from first grade and was chosen to play the violin from third grade. He continued to play violin in symphonic orchestras, chamber orchestras and big bands throughout his teenage years, but at some point, he switched to the viola as it suited the melancholic mood following the fall of childhood. He would also join two bands playing the bass guitar, and in 2007 he played the viola on Epicentre's debut album Fokus.
In 2008 Valdemar ditched starting on the Danish Journalist School and moved instead to Copenhagen where he joined the anarchist movement. At the Art House Bolsjefabrikken, he participated in loads of cultural activism, but also put his journalist's skills to good use by doing a lot of presswork, documentary screening, subversive TV and of cause loads of free parties. With his friend and DJ colleague Tadoh, he started the monthly soliparty Folkets Haus to ease the weight of throwing solidarity parties and to introduce the radical left to deep house.
In 2015 Valdemar moved to Berlin to follow his dream of producing his own music, but ended up in extensive field research in the clubs... and quite fast his passion and taste for good music and mixing skills brought him back behind the decks in renowned clubs like Kater Blau, Sisyphos, Charlet and Rummelsbucht.
He also got the idea to turn Rebellion der Träumer into a label as he envisioned it to be the perfect platform to launch a revolution of the music industry, by taking out the business part of it - by building a blockchain based music service where music no longer was seen as a commodity but as a vital part of the creative conscious. He strongly believes that it is possible to build a sustainable music industry if people instead of buying music would donate an amount on a monthly basis that would be distributed pr played seconds between the played tracks. On top of the blockchain based platform, he wishes to build a cryptocurrency for the music scene, that can be used on festivals and in clubs, but also to pay the artists with. Thus creating money out of donation instead of debt like the banks...
The CyptoKnight project is huge and he's still looking for key players to join the amazing team.
In the summer of 2017 Wartemal have played in 12 countries and on 14 festivals.
