DRĖĖĖMY (the sonic project of Reem Abdou) is a genre-bending world-fusion sound artist and ethnomusicologist, mindful movement & meditation teacher, and conscious community catalyst. She is the founder of the NYC-based music, arts, wellness, environmental, and social justice movement The Collective BAE and the co-founder of BASSyoga. As an indigenous Egyptian artist, her sound is an Organic Electronica — an intentional, transnational communication of soul vibration: global rhythms, earthy basslines, natural atmospheres, forgotten instruments, traditional ancestral voices, tribal invocations — Ancient Sounds and Future Beats made for Remembering & Envisioning, together.Inspired by the healing, meta-physical power of sound, her journeys are unexpected, fusing and layering tempos & cultural wisdoms, because they're meant for primal and meditative movement — a deep sense of exploration, liberated expression, and conscious awareness. It is a nod to our shared (her)story; and an invitation into integrated well-being that honors the source of ancestral practices.BAE (Balancing All Energies, @BAESOUND), was founded by Reem as a mindful music movement and empowerment community based in NYC, produced by womxn, for ALL. Her work is to amplify and evolve cross-cultural connection, collaboration, co-creation, and wellness for ALL by highlighting especially under-represented artists and marginalized voices. Within BAE, drėėėmy harnesses sound to transform and transmute spaces for collective liberation and celebration around the planet through SONIC ALCHEMY.She is also the co-creator of BASSyoga alongside international teacher Nikki Ortiz (www.BASSxYOGA.com) — an original expression of sub-frequency soundhealing music and movement medicine designed to sync brainwaves and nurture energetic fluidity in the mind, body, and spirit using the combination of harmonic frequencies, ancient tuning instruments, and downtempo rhythms fused with originally composed binaural beats, all created live. She's performed, played and activated experiences at festivals, venues, and gatherings across the country & internationally, including: for IOC-UNESCO, WNYC-NPR, Madison Square Garden (with their first public offering of yoga & meditation), the Rubin Museum of Art, The New York Botanical Garden, The New School University, Columbia University, The Queens Museum, ART BASEL Miami, Ecstatic Dance (worldwide), AFROPUNK BK Festival, Symbiosis Gathering, Refinery 29, the California World Music Festival, House of YES, The Get Down, Tribal Gathering in Panama, Envision Festival in Costa Rica, Jai Thep Festival in Thailand, and at convergences of changemakers around the globe.
