Size 14 - Appetite for Self-Destruction by Robt Ptak published on 2013-10-14T07:01:52Z www.facebook.com/Size14band www.facebook.com/RobtPtak/ www.instagram.com/Robt.Ptak/ Before the band recorded it's self titled album for Volcano in 1997 many songs were recorded in various settings with different producers/engineers. This is a collection of tracks recorded by Ryan Dorn and Bruce Witkin. Mastering was done by bassist Robt Ptak, guitarist Kevin Danczak and Chris Churchill. The band had planned to purchase it's own facility to record their material as well as that of individual members and artists affiliated with the band. These recordings are officially unreleased. Some have been posted previously but, never mastered. Robt Ptak: "After listening to these sessions it occurred to me that in many respects they are better than the album tracks. Mainly in the performances by the band. Many friends who had followed the band since it was formed mentioned to me they felt the album was good, something was missing from the earlier recordings. That was something I did not want to hear as by that time it was too late to make a difference. When I review these recordings I remember how much fun it was during that period of the bands history. You can hear it in all of the performances and the mix as well. I wish we had been able to proceed with our plans to have our own studio and work with Ryan and Bruce. Mike Clink is a great producer, there is no question about that. It was an honor to work with him. Ryan and Bruce are very talented in their own right and were very close with the band. By the time we recorded the Volcano release the band was no longer functioning as a unit the way we had in the years leading up to the release. In the most fundamental sense I think these recordings represent the bands work at it's peak. It was great fun to master these songs with Kevin and Chris. For people who enjoy the band this may be something special. I hope people enjoy them as much as I did performing them and mastering them with Kevin and Chris. We chose the title for this collection because it is both a play on "Guns and Roses" legendary album which was also produced by Mike Clink and the sad fact the band essentially imploded later in the time we worked together. It is very rewarding and an honor to know people still enjoy the band. To be able to interact with our fans and try to provide more material is very special to us. To do things like this is a way to say thank you to the people we have had the pleasure to come to know over the years." Thank you!
