On August 28, 2011, 97 individuals related to the following individuals submitted their names to Gaming and Control for consideration as candidates to fill three complimentary seats on the Board of Regents: Danny Weisser; Jason C. Collins; and John Latimer. Gaming and Control examined the individuals' qualifications and other information regarding the individuals and the status of their campaigns. On September 16, 2011, Gaming and Control notified those individuals that they had been excluded from consideration as candidates for the election.
On March 10, 2012, Gaming and Control published a notice announcing the appointment of 16 individuals to the Board of Regents, including those that had been previously nominated. Ten of those appointed did not file their nomination statement as required by Ohio law. As a result, Gaming and Control declared that those appointments are nolonger effective. On September 6, 2012, Gaming and Control provided written notice that Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court entered judgment against the five candidates that Gaming and Control had declared ineligible and that the County Clerk of Cuyahoga County refused to accept the candidates' notices of candidacy with their statement of candidacy. a3f8a02ae1
