Born Dominique Marcell Collins on the island of Puerto Rico and raised in New Orleans, pop/RB artist, Dom Marcell, also known as the “Seven Threat” (Singer/ Songwriter/ Actor/ Dancer/ Screenwriter/ Director/ Businessman), took a liking to music at the young age of 3.
Being raised in a strict household and forbidden to listen to secular music, Dom Marcell developed an affinity towards gospel music, which would eventually create the foundation for his artistry. As he grew up and became more independent of his family, styles such as contemporary RB, pop, hip hop, and dance music were integrated, solidifying his unique sound.
While attending USC in Los Angeles, Dom Marcell was known among the student community as a performer ; organizing shows in LA clubs and performing at Reggie Bush’s Orange Bowl Party were examples of his drive. In addition, his passion to learn about the business aspect of music translated into internships at HBO, Atlantic Records, and Warner Brothers.
Facing an ostensible dead end in music, Dom Marcell worked in corporate America and then obtained his JD/MBA degrees from Northwestern University. After a brief stint on Wall Street as an investment banker, he realized it was time to reengage his passion.
His notable features in Billboard Magazine, HuffPost, BuzzFeed, Fox, Black Enterprise, PopDust, and many more, are just the beginning of Dom Marcell’s future.
Having come full circle, he is ready to pursue and fulfill his destiny.
