SofaKing is an experimental learning project started in 2010 by Evan Sheldon in North Texas. With no musical background or experience whatsoever, he set out to learn to jockey music with the intention of one day playing for masses of people. He has since completed this goal and set his sights on loftier ideas. This project will continue to grow until it is ready to evolve into something that is educated enough to grow rapidly with no clear end in sight.
Since 2010 SofaKing has shared lineups with respected international artists such as Travi$ Scott, Waka Flocka Flame, Shogun, point.Blank, V.I.V.E.K, Snow Tha Product, The Widdler, and Trolley Snatcha as well as nationally recognized artists Casey Veggies, Bames, Bird Peterson, Sines, Doughbeezy, and Paul Anthony.
In the past SofaKing has held weekly residencies at Hailey's Club, Andy's Bar, and The Garage in Denton, Texas, as well as playing regularly at other venues and bars around the small North Texas town. He spends a great deal of time in solitude, however, mastering his craft.
SofaKing has been associated with the Denton Dance Collective as a performer, promoter, and booking agent, spreading his love of bass music to all of Denton. He was also the official DJ of MacBroadz Music, a hip-hop collective that played shows all over Texas. Sofa has a presence on the internet as well as part of the Future Screw Crew, who screw all your favorite future bass and hip-hop tunes and post them on the internet for free.
