After 15 years and 1000′s of events later, the culture of hip-hop has taken DJ Qwess Coast around the world. Originally from Inglewood, CA, Qwess started spinning at the age of 10. He did his first party at 14 although he had turntables and a mixer he didn’t not enough music on vinyl he didn’t have CD Player’s so he used two Sony Play station 1‘s as Cd players with his mixer and got the party going and eventually started booking events as a mobile disc jockey and selling mix tapes. What made Qwess so unique as a DJ is ability to bridge the music from 1950 to today and blend it for any crowd whether its deejaying private events, clubs, backing up artist, concert, weddings, corporate events, school events and if not spinning do sound engineering or stage management or show or tour production for some of the hottest artist in the game.
This entrepreneur has work in many angles of today entertainment industry be it spinning, sound, marketing, promoting, internet media, production, radio and video journalism. This deejay started his Qwess at such an early age his this 25 years old is really only getting started.
Qwess made his acting debut in an independent film starring Snoop Dogg called Bossing Up. Also you seen him in a QD3 SHOWTIME documentary film entitled Black in Blue. In addition, you’ve seen him in the K-Swiss DJ Battle Style commercial that aired on all the music and sports television networks as well K Swiss print ads in all the top pop culture magazines.
2005-2006 Qwess was marketing and advertising director for one of the first online market research company www.ingtimes.com and found clients landed accounts, organized and worked southern California based street teams for artist like Chingy, Cherish, LeToya Luckett, and J Holiday, Vida Guerra’s, Corporations like Capitol Records, Lexani Clothing (Lexani Rims), Hershey Chocolate/Jolly Rancher for a Beverage line called Jolly Rancher Soda’s that we indirectly got distributed throughout 7 Eleven’s, Sam Clubs, and numerous amounts of gas stations.
In 2007 Qwess Created the GO DJ Academy, broadcasting course for teenagers wanted to learn about how to making a radio mix show or pre recorded mix tape. In 2008 Qwess created radio program entitled The Street Industry Show, podcasting and broadcasting on live on the web. The 3hr program has broadcast live from the campus of CAL STATE DOMINQUEZ HILLS RADIO STATION www.kdhr.net over 50 times.
In 2009, Qwess started touring with the Distant Relatives, “Damian ‘Jr’ Gong’ Marley and Nasir ‘ NAS/’ Jones”, as the tour’s stage manager. Which, in due course, started working with the two artist on their solo dates as well and becoming a production manager for NAS and a stage manager for Jr’ Gong. Touring Australia, Europe, Asia, Canada, Jamaica, Trinidad, and all over North America. Qwess started 2010 in Dakar, Senegal with the Morgan Heritage Band Stage Managing for the band on a stage performing for some 60 thousand-people for a New Years Eve celebration.
