Starting off in 2002, when clubbing in Costa Rica was at a high, DJ Maxx starts off his career at one of the most renowned clubs in Costa Rica, Hooligans. This trendy bar in Escazú was one of the main nightlife points at the time and provided the perfect opportunity to eventually seize later that year the residency at Sambuka, which historically has been one, if not, the most recognized and famous club to have ever existed in San Jose, Costa Rica.
2004 eventually saw DJ Maxx play at Frankie Go, which proved to be one of the trendiest clubs in the Escazú area and held a record of a 9-year operation, something almost unheard of in recent times for clubs, which usually have a lifespan of 2-3 years. Being one of the best clubs around, even more exposure and acknowledgement was in store for DJ Maxx as he gained even more respect amongst club owners & promoters.
Having dominated the club scene at an early point in his career DJ Maxx signed with Nightlife Entertainment Group, one of Costa Rica’s club-owning projects. Also Maxx has been seen in clubs like La Birreria, Utopia, Living, Oblique, L’ Bistro, Five, Rapsodia, Tao, Club Baja Beach, Vertigo, Q Bico, Gaira, Bamboleo, Prive, and more; club’s whose names instantly ring a bell to anyone which ever played a part in CR’s nightlife.
Taking advantage of numerous clubs, it was time to take on the big events & festivals. Just mention INCAE, Palmares or Espinar. A 7-year stint at Palmares, which included in 2007 the Derby Party Zone and in 2009 Marlboro Beats, which all in all is the biggest festival to happen during the year in Costa Rica and sees thousands of locals assist in Mid-January every year, three Espinar dates, being another big festival held in the Guanacaste “Las Delicias” ranch and finally a 4-year straight appearance at the INCAE festival proved to be more than enough to become a nationally-known household brand as a DJ.
As an opening DJ, he was selected to open for big-name aritsts & DJs, including: Pitbull, Gary Nesta Pine (Bob Sinclair’s official vocalist), DJ Miss Nine, Jesse & Joy, Bonka, DJ Mijangos (Mexico), Kafu Banton and many tropical artists such as Comando Tiburon, Jr Ranks, Mr Saik, El Roockie, Latin Fresh, La Factoria, Eddy Lover, Match & Daddy, Jimmy Bad Boy, El Chombo and many more.
Also, he was involved in the production of big events such as Armin Van Buuren & Pitbull in 2009 serving as main support for the DJs involved.
He doesn’t fall shy of brands, having played at events hosted by Johnny Walker, Red Bull, Bacardi, Maxxx Energy, Marlboro, Imperial, Pilsen, Rock Ice, Heineken, Coca Cola, Pall Mall, Adrenaline Rush, Derby, Captain Morgan, J & B, Pepsi, Tropical, Cristal, Absolut, Grey Goose, Movistar, Smirnoff and Coors Light, just to name a few.
Currently DJ Maxx is one of costa rica’s most popular DJ and holds a residency at Jogo Productions and Club ¼ Lounge, being the main DJ for many bigger events to come and pleasing every weekend the constant trendy crowd of Escazú @ ¼.
