HOME, BUT NOT ALONE

Vienna

Alois Hahnenkamp aka dj:mace was born 1969 in Vienna, Austria. His father, an enthusiastic hobby musician, lay the foundation-stone of music understandings in his early years. At the age of four he got his first portable record player. From this moment on his parents record library was not safe anymore and the first influences were the dance music of the fifties to the seventies. Jazz, Soul, Funk, Metal and New Wave followed…. Miserable tries in learning to play the piano and the decision to become a professional bookseller prevented an early musical career. But finally the first visit of a so called “Rave” at the “Arena” in Vienna started his interest in electronic music again. Fascinated by the exciting moods he fell more and more into the new music styles of the so called “Techno-Generation”. The first affordable personal computers allowed him to start his own compositions and arrangements. Sadly none of a few very interesting songs have been released until now. Beside he worked as a DJ at private parties where the music styles of the eighties and nineties were dominating. Finally at the age of thirty he got his first opportunities to work as a professional DJ in dance clubs and pubs. After three months of hard training he already played as resident DJ in the “Sonderbar” in Vienna. Further appearances at “Maxim Afterhour” and “Gerard” followed. Public appearances for Radio “PartyFM 106,7″ in Vienna und Lower Austria approved the skills of our “late qualified”. Bookings in Vienna’s hippest clubs (Meierei, Atrium, Fledermaus,…) followed. Highlights so far have been DJ-Sets at the “Rainbow Parade” 2001/2002 and the “Loveparade” 2002 in Vienna. During 2005 and 2012 he worked beside of Christian Neuberger (T.S.O.) as Resident DJ for the H12-Musiclab at the SAS Radission Style Hotel in viennas first district. Since 2010 he was part of Christian Neubergers musical project "Sound Society Allstars", which came to an sudden end in summer 2018 because of the death of his long lasting friend and musical mate Christian Neuberger. At the end of 2014 he got in contact with Eva Bischof and Gery Herlbauer, founder of "4youreye" (https://www.4youreye-projection.design/), a national and international respected duo for live visual perfomances. Since then he was part of the so called "Lichtbogen-Family", a creative group of visual and audio artists and already played at festivals like "playground AV" in Vienna, 2015. In 2016 dj:mace decided to say farewell to dancefloors in Vienna, still producing his podacsts in irregular order. His last public appearance was at the "Fantastic Gondolas" Festival placed in Lech, Austria in 2017.
