Los Angeles native, Jason Phillips aka DJ jasepi, is quickly emerging as one of the most requested DJs in Tinseltown. Having spun for some of the biggest names in Hollywood including Eva Longoria-Parker, Paris Hilton and Kanye West, jasepi is gaining notoriety for spinning an eclectic mix of break beat and electro with the flavors of old school and Top 40s for a signature sound that he mixes to encourage everyone to "get up and dance."
Traveling coast to coast for the last few years, jasepi has been a featured performer at hundreds of events around LA including an impressive four years as the live DJ for ESPN's X-Games and a variety of events in Japan and New York. He is regularly asked to spin at some of the hottest parties in the entertainment, lifestyle, and fashion industries, including InStyle Oscar’s event 2009, FX's "The Shield" finale and VH1 Save the Music & JetBlue LAX launch party with Mix Master Mike & Robin Thicke, the highly touted ABC Daytime Emmy Pre-party, prestigious GenArt Fresh Faces in Fashion show during LA Fashion Week, and FOX’s TCA party where he performed for the star-studded casts of “24,” “House” and “Bones.” In addition to performing at the Warner Brothers Film’s “10,000 BC” premiere party, jasepi has been seen as a guest DJ on the critically acclaimed FX show "Dirt" starring Courtney Cox-Arquette and can count Boost Mobile, TV Guide, Stoli Vodka, and Mountain Dew as just a few of his highly respected clients.
Fluent in Japanese, jasepi spent over a year living in Japan, where he became immersed in the richly layered history & culture of the country. jasepi was influenced by the unique street sounds, prevalent electronic music, as well as continued to rediscover his love of his favorite childhood musicians incorporating all of these into his style. Returning to the states, he attended the prestigious Musician's Institute where he received his sound engineering degree so that, according to him, would "allow him to learn more about the back side of the music industry." He has since been back to perform at Tokyo’s prestigious “Summer Sonic Festival”.
From his early love of drum and bass sounds, to break dancing and the rhythm of electronic music, to his modern sound that encompasses the best music up to today, jasepi continues to set himself apart from his competition.
