DJ Jalen TEKLIFE Chicago Jalen Barnes, professionally known as DJ Jalen, is a multi-genre producer and DJ, actively pushing footwork, hip-hop and bass music internationally with his undefeated footwork crew, TOG - Takeova Global. At 23-years old, he represents as the young heavy-hitter of footwork by bringing a high energy performance that moves any crowd. Since 2014, Jalen has been traveling to various cities performing and teaching interactive footwork workshops. In each city, he builds direct connections with the local dance community in an effort to cultivate a new generation of footworkers. His organic base has grown immensely in support of each release including his debut projects Travell’s Pads via Good Street Records and Take Ova Time released on Peru’s Matraca netlabel on April 2018. This has lead to performances at Renn Fayre, Michigan Glass Project, and acting as support for Cupcakke at Middlebury College in Vermont. Today, DJ Jalen is focused on innovating the original footwork sound and pushing it to new listeners. He is currently preparing his next release via his new label TakeOva Global entitled Midnight Hour EP. This project is led by Bend Dat Thang Ova official visual, a chaotic video featuring various Midwest creatives enjoying his music in differing capacities. The overall goal of this release is to encourage people to have fun for the love.
