Kyza - Lights Out (2004) produced by Harry Love by DJ Harry Love published on 2014/01/03 22:15:50 +0000 Kyza is someone who has been my good friend around age 11 or 12 as we went to the same school, had the same friends, grew up in the same area of West-London and always periodically met up to record freestyle tapes and work on early demos, especially with Verb T. For the record, it's worth mentioning that these 2 respected and influenced each other greatly in the earlier years of our developing skills - Kyza went in for some Westwood rap battles very early on and did pretty well. He always said that Verb T was insane with the flows and his esoteric, dark and introspective style was always evident from the start. Also, there was this legendary 19th birthday I had where loooooaaads of people came down both from my social group and mad hip hop heads. Mungo, Skinnyman, Jehst, Verb T, Mystro, Yungun, Brotherhood, Roses Gabor, possibly Task Force and I can't even remember how many other people were all there and so... true to form... a rap cipher broke out in the street out front of my house.... Those who were there will remember Kyza was the one killing the beatbox while all these sick MCs took turns vibing out and after the circle had had a few turns... suddenly in comes Kyza who was being heard rhyming in front of these lot for the first time. It was after this cipher & meeting Jehst at my house that he ended up making his first recorded appearance on Jehsts "Trilogy" remix where he debuted so strongly that there was even debate over his and Chester's verses being best on the track... that's some entrance! All of this is the reason I am so pleased & proud to have produced Kyza's first solo release. Also, I heard about this track being used on some BBC boxing shows and I think as a certain Boxer's intro at the time (never saw/heard it myself but was told by a few heads).
