Miss Anya
Anya is an international DJette who was born in Russia, raised in the United States and now lives in the lovely Italian Alps & Boston USA. Through her DJ career, she has been known to play many different styles of electronic music focusing on psychedelic sounds in dark/forest/hitek psytrance subgenres, techno/tech house, IDM, downbeat break, and deep prog house. A big lover of seeing everyone dance in a positive killa environment; Anya was involved with Sonic Beating Prod. Boston since 2007 - running for some years, more than 20 productions per year! Multi-skilled, Anya worked in bookings, finance, art, and as a DJ for SB. In the last years in SB, her main focuses were on booking out a psy monthly night - Psyforia - and blasting out underground psychedelic events. She's helped to lead the way in outlaw party projects & encouraged other promoters to throw parties, and contributed to the regional Burning Man community by hauling giant speakers into the woods.
A self-proclaimed "genre-slut", Anya's been into EDM/IDM music since the age of 10 when early Crystal Method & other break-beat producers blew her young and impressionable mind ;) Over 15 years in parties, she's traveled from American rave, to underground dnb/jungle, and later into multi-core/IDM scenes. In the early 2000s, she fell in love with goa, that later pushed her to start DJing psytrance.
In her 8th year as a DJ, she's blasting happily for Damaru Records, based in Germany, on her hitek psy selections & for Banyan Records, based in Austria, laying down her forest psy side! She has also previously worked with Psynon Records, UK. Known for her smooth "transition" sets across multiple sub-genres of psychedelic trance, her flexible & styled mixing has come from the hundreds of gigs she's played all over the world. "There are almost never limits on what tracks you can run together!" Playing for and feeling the crowd, many love her strong yet feminine energy in an almost male-dominated scene.
Additionally, Anya enjoys DJing under her new alias "The Ithaka Project", that officially started in 2014. Focusing on work at lounge, bars, & indoor clubs (Boston/NYC) for many years now, Ithaka loves smooth house for fancy drinks, hard techno for the freaks, and everything in between thats smart in the slower BPMs.
And so, she has played various clubs & bars, parties, and festivals in the US on the East and West Coasts & Burning Man, and also in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria, France, Canada, Morocco, Panama, Bolivia, Spain, Czech Rep, Croatia and more... Anya has been a featured guest on web and regular radio stations around world, contributing to programs from local WZBC 90.3FM Boston to MelexRadio in Greece, Babaganousha/Alpha's Crazy Sounds in Germany, various stations in India and more... Additionally, she's assisted in management positions/organization of festivals & parties of various sizes, in the US & Europe, primarily dealing with artists, transports, and financial balances.
