ok.. i have been into music my whole life.. i even tried to make my first "dj" mixes when i was 8-or 9 using a tape deck and clips from my fave tunes.. early influences ranged from the pet shop boys, to michael jackson, 2 live crew and NWA.. as i got older i started playing in the school band, however in grade 9 switched to a new course called "music composition" here we learned to use keyboards and samplers, with sequencers, drum machines, and sound modules, all together with the almighty mac to produce our own music.. a very rare course from a more rare music teacher.. the year.. 1992-1994!! getting caught up in the grunge juggernaut of the 90's i began playing guitar, and did so for 3 years or so, until i moved from the small mountain town to VANCOUVER in late 96... and discovered the rave scene down there during the xmas season that year.. 8 months or so later i started djing breakbeats and also drum and bass, after playing at a party and having all my break records stolen.. i decided to stick to drum and bass, but always loved them breaks!! in 2001, i moved to my aunt's place in hornchurch, essex, part of greater LONDON, UK.. once i arrived to make a name for myself i soon realised how tiny a fish i was in the ocean of dj's over there, however, i did manage to land a couple gigs while there.. once for a new years party in brighton, and once in romford, essex, for the "ROMFORD UNDERGROUND" opening for "A Sides"... from there i travelled europe with my record bag in tow.. played a few gigs here and there and mainly made some great contacts.. eventually i settled in Zante, Greece for the summer/ fall season, djing at 2 clubs nightly, "the G Spot" from 9-midnight, and at "CROC's" from midnight till 4 am.. it was a great time!!.. until the 9/11 atacks killed the season!! i went back to the uk and stayed for another 7 months.. landed a job on a cruiseship, but had to go back to canada first.. so i left my recordcollection with a friend and left on the ship, only to come back 6 months later to find my records were stolen!! sooooo many limited edition pressings, bootlegs, and not to mention 1000's of dollars gone... it crushed me.. and i gave up my hobby.. it was too painful to try and play when 95 % of my tunes were gone.. i stopped playing and moved on.. fast forward to 2007, i get laid off and a friend asks me if i would like to dj on the side till i get a real job again.. i agree, top 40 bar called the rock pitt in revelstoke, bc.. my stompin' grounds.. it reminds me of what had been missing in my life and i start to compile a decent track library again, mp3's tho.. so i remember a friend in van had serato when it first came out and researched it.. bought it and never looked back!! its taken me a while to get ready to play out again, but i have recently began playing out again in Regina, SK since january the 13th, 2011.>>>> fast forward to now, feb 23rd, 2012..... the last year has been hectic one for me!! since i started playing out again, i have been quite busy!! i have helped to put on some great parties out here including "heavenly beats" w/ DEKO-ZE, together with my good friend AREK from decibel frequency in april of last year, played at most of the local clubs in town on various occasions and had a blast doing so!! the next highlight would have to b landing a weekly residency on www.roughtempo.com with my very good friend SMASH COX, and so almost 6 months ago , "Da' BASSment Sessions" was born.. thank you mr SCOUNDREL for the amazing opportunity to play on a UK web/Radio show!! since then its been a whirlwind of activity, and we threw another party for NYE, "The Beginning of the END" featuring CAPITAL J!!.. we are now in the planning stages of bringing one of my fave dj's EVER here.. the man.. MR DEEKLINE!! things are falling into place, and i have come full circle it seems, at last!! just recently started working on my own beats using abelton 8, a midi keyboard, and a launchpad.. so wish me luck.. i might need it! :P
