The musical DJ'ing journey of DJ Pranksta started way back in 95, when he first got his hands on a pair of decks at the age of 15. This was made possible by his brother owning a pair of Technic 1200s, alot of stealth style sneaking & getting on it every chance he got.
Starting learning the art of mixing with trance in the early days (through his brothers influence) Pranksta moved onto Hip Hop & found the joys of scratching. Fascinated by the sounds & diversity of the scratch, Pranksta brought his first pair of Technic 1210s half a year later & got into Drum & Bass shortly after, with his first purchase being - Danger - by Special K on Trouble on Vinyl.
Hooking up with longtime friend, DJ Breakz, they had many mixing & scratching sessions in the late nineties, which resulted in the enhancing of Pranksta's mixing & scratching skillz.
In 97, at the age of 17, Pranksta got to know Lee & Robin of Terminal State, through our mutual passion of Drum & Bass, meeting up regularly & got his first gig playing in a club called the venue. Then over the years, Pranksta has had regular DJ slots in a number of clubs in Jersey - Vespas, Pesos, Synergy, Live Lounge, Pure, Liquid & the Watersplash. Playing alongside some of the biggest D&B artists in the scene - Chase & Status, Brookes Brothers, Friction, Spor, Culture Shock, Mc Spyda, Dave Owen, Etherwood, Roni Size & Loadstar.
Mid 2008, Pranksta was invited to mix on the lengendary DJ Spim's Subfactory show on Bassdrive, finding it an ideal outlet to air his skills & share his passion for Drum & Bass. Three & a half years later & lots of Subfactory show appearances, DJ Pranksta is a regular on the Bassdrive show.
At the start of 2011, DJ Pranksta moved into the realm of three deck mixing, which has become an awesome experience, being able to adapt & enhance his DJ skills over three Technics & with vinyl all the way.
With the increase of drum & bass tracks being solely released on mp3 format, DJ Pranksta moved onto Serato with control vinyl in 2012. While still keeping the vinyl element alive, it also enables DJ Pranksta to play those exclusive mp3 tracks.
After years, in the early days, of thinkin of DJ names, Pranksta, came about one day & has stuck ever since, mostly due to his joker style personality.
And as they say - the rest is history.
