A true clubber at heart, the real spark for Mike Beaumont’s DJ career came from his debut visit to the mighty Gatecrasher night at the late Republic for the 8th Birthday. Now, a number of years later and having played alongside a host of the most established names in the industry, the man’s diverse sounding sets has lead to Mike’s name being a familiar one throughout the club scene.
It was as a resident DJ for Sheffield trance nights Noize and Statik, where the regular sets and growing reputation landed Beaumont sets at the legendary Gatecrasher White Party and 16th Birthday pre-parties. This lead onto what can only be described as an explosive debut for OTR (Off the Rails), where the event made a long awaited return as part of the Insomniacz 10th Birthday in Sheffield. It was here Mike was announced as one of the new residents for OTR ahead of the much anticipated re-launch in 2009.
With the OTR brand going from strength to strength, Mike has enjoyed some epic moments behind the decks during his time as resident. From taking the reigns from local trance legend Matt Hardwick at the mighty Magna to closing proceedings at the 4th and 5th Birthday events as well as reliving ‘the golden era’ for all those Crasher regulars at the sell-out Journey Through Trance nights...Beaumont has proven he has the musical knowledge and the ability to mix it up with the best in the business. His OTR resident duties also include co-hosting the monthly Beat Therapy radio show, including special guests such as Sean Tyas, Sied Van Riel, and Jordan Suckley to name but a few.
Since gaining the OTR residency, Mike has gained sets for a host of the countries biggest nights. Highlights include a peak time set at the PaSSion birthday event before a return to the Emporium for the main room debut December '10. There have been a number of visits to the Leeds o2 Academy for the A-listed headliner events hosted by Digital Society, providing the support for acts including Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz and Andy Moor as well as an appearance in the club arena of the saught after WHP (Warehouse Project) series of events for the at the time, world number 1 DJ Armin Van Buuren event.
Other highlights for Beaumont’s DJ career include winning the national Gatecrasher ‘Kill the Lights’ DJ competition in December 2009 as hosted by Matt Hardwick, with the prize a warm up set alongside Hardwick and Radio 1’s Judge Jules at Digital, Newcastle. A hat-trick of sets were also earned in Ibiza during that same year, including a set at San Antonio’s premier bar, Plastik proving the man’s versatility with his tune selection, an honour since replecated.
More recently, Mike has made a couple of appearences at what could be described as the UK's current leading trance brand, Godskitchen with a very special gig coming from May 2012 where he played a main room Air, Birmingham set to a sell out crowd at the Gods SixFiveTwelve event. With the event billed as the last Godskitchen event to be held at the hallowed venue plus a truely world-class line-up to boot including 2 former world number 1 DJs, Beaumont made the most of this occasion and played a set to remember!
Aiming to take his sets to the next level, Beaumont has recently entered the world of production and so far, to great success with his version of Genix vs Jordan Suckley 'Helion Thunder' featured by Suckley on his BBC Radio 1 'In New DJs We Trust' show in April this year!
With such an obvious passion for his music, expect to hear the perfect blend of driving sounds with spine-tingling euphoric riffs delivered with an infectious energy of which this DJ, Mike Beaumont is already well renowned for throughout sets of the highest calibre, guaranteed to keep you moving until the very last beat.
