Born prematurely on the 4th of April 1990 as 1 of quintuplets, I started life weighing a mere 980 grams. Due to too much oxygen in the incubator, I unfortunately lost all of my site, but little did I know what an adventure my life would turn out to be. From a young age my passion was music. It’s the classic scenario; kid hears music, kid is fascinated, kid gets toy instruments, kid starts building a dream! Fortunately for me, I was blessed with an innate talent for music as I soon began to realize. It all began with singing and then progressed as I discovered the wonders of playing the piano. At the age of 10, I started playing yearly piano exams and with years of practice, dedication and guidance, progressed to as far as grade 7 in jazz piano. I also had, and still have, a fascination with the art and science of audio production, which encompasses a variety of tasks such as recording, arranging and mixing. Thanks to my mentor, Andre Russouw and the vast knowledge that I gained throughout the years of recording in his studio, I was able to gain the fundamental knowledge necessary to propel myself into the audio world. My love for music only grew as I started venturing into the world of computers. I was inspired by mixes of various DJs I was hearing on the radio and had so many Ideas that I was burning to try out. Initially quite challenging thanks to the inaccessibility of most programs, I eventually managed to work my way around the necessary tools and processes and slowly but surely, DJ D@rkn3ss was born! The irony in that name was realized by my brother who suggested it to me. From that day on, that name has just stuck! Since then I've played at various gigs, won 3rd place in an international production competition and had the chance to do product demos for various sound design companies who provide the best sounds for producers across the world. Whenever I make music, weather it's a new DJ set with new crazy mashups that others find hard to believe, or writing with some of the amazing talent I've had the chance to work with, I like to give my music the exact same passion it's awoken in me! In short! I love what I do! I'm also venturing into the world of IT as well. After graduating with a bachelors degree in Corporate Communication, I realized that since computers are another one of my passions, IT is the field for me. So with my love for music coinciding with the joys I get from computers, my life is off to an explosive start I wish for others to see me and realize that their dreams can become reality!
