Ableton Ambient In a Box by B1b published on 2013-04-01T17:10:43Z How I made this patch: Orchestral arrangement made using Orchestral Instruments Live Pack with a viola section, a flute section, and a bassoon section. I recorded that, then sampled my recording. Dropped the recording into Simpler. Set attack and release really long. Turned loop function on, adjusted to taste. Added autofilter set to lowpass with autofilter's LFO set to subtly sweep the frequency, also added some manner of delay. Added LFOs using Max For Live that I set to randomly sweep the sample's start point back and forth at a determined amount/rate. Then made that all one instrument using group to instrument rack. I doubled the instance of sampler within the instrument rack, lowered the volume, panned to the left, and added saturation+delay to distort. Then doubled the sampler instrument situation again, lowered volume, panned to right, added vinyl distortion and ping pong delay (the best of the delays!), and adjusted the LFO programming on that instrument so that it varied from the other two sampler instruments (to add more motion and get moiré patterns to happen). Saved the entire thing as an instrument rack. Made whale sounds.
