*SPECIAL CORONAVIRUS ANNOUNCEMENT *
Hello lovelies. Like many artists and non-artists around the world I have had all my paid work for the foreseeable future erased by this crisis. As people in the gig economy we are precarious in this kind of situation. Here is one way we can find some stability and a way through the insanity of this time: I'm very grateful to Patreon for making this platform, and I relish another way I can be in touch with YOU leg ends and share what there is to wonder at. Yes. Let's make this happen.
I am Dizraeli, or Rowan. I am a poet, singer, multi-instrumentalist producer and MC.
This is The Unmaster, my last album : https://fanlink.to/diz01
If I had to summarize why it is I make, and what I'm trying to do... I'm trying to understand better, to fling the musty shit curtains and allow light in... and perhaps in liberating myself, to help other people liberate. I make dirty big tender music that you can move to.
I also frikin frikin love music and I frikin frikin need to make it, and I think that I am only just arriving as an artist, just starting to make what I'm here on the earth to make.
As well as making many albums, EPs and singles and several moments of theatre, I run a monthly radio show on Soho Radio called Scan Your Biscuits in which I interview thinkers, artists, scientists and activists and share two hours of the best music I have unearthed that month. Here's a recent show I loved making - https://www.mixcloud.com/sohoradio/scan-your-biscu...
I'm not paid to do that show, though.
I write every day, which I'm not paid for, and I make music every day unpaid.
And I have notebook upon notebook of unshared lyrics, and folder upon folder of unrealised music, which I just can't find the time to sit and go through and make albums out of, because I won't get paid for that...
I can't explain how much work I am sitting on right now but don't have the time or means to shape into finished shareable things.
There are interviews, songs, poems, mad dancefloor-lusting bangers that want your hips, videos, collaborations with dancers, even a series of insane doodles that I've been wondering what to do with.
I've dreamed of having a stable monthly source of income that would mean instead of rushing round doing every gig I'm offered, I could put time aside to do the shaping and sharing, and bring all these almost-done pieces of work to you.
WAIT A MINUTE!
People have been telling me for ages about Patreon, and now thanks to the insanity of the world moment we're living through, I have had a day to sit down and put together this page.
I realise that I am blessed beyond blessed to have a community of people who are up for what I do, and who might want to hear what I've got up my sleeves waiting.
So here is my Patreon page, where you can join in my teeming, loving, sideways, filthsome journey at several different levels.
Thank you to the highest heavens to all of you who choose to support, however little or large your financial contribution is. The fact of your contribution is massive. Thank you.
