disCerN New York City Verb 1. Perceive or recognize (something). 2. Distinguish (someone or something) with difficulty by sight or with the other senses. disCerN is a brand formed in the beginning of 2013 and comprised of esteemed DJ's and producer's Silky & Jonny Cruz. The Discern sound is a blend of styles and genres and a new platform to release a different edge being signed up by cult Los Angeles label Culprit (for the single ‘Calling For You’, , Lee Burridge's Get Weird label and Michael Tello (Pillowtalk) and Ray Zuniga's imprint Touch Of Class Records, whilst he has also remixed for Lower East, Alola and Faceless Recordings. What’s more, Pete Tong recently featured the aforementioned collaborative single ‘Calling For You’ on BBC Radio One’s Essential Selection two weeks in a row. Discern has played in some of the top clubs of the world, Including Berlin's infamous techno haven, Watergate. Few new collaborations can have had the early and immediate success of discern, but that’s not all there is in the pipeline; the techno legend that is Timo Maas has personally signed a new disCerN single ‘Coarse Language’ for his CD mix compilation forthcoming this summer on Toronto’s My Favorite Robot Records, and disCerN will also mix the next edition of Omid 16B's Alola Record label CD compilation following in the footsteps of people like Mr C and Danny Howells. As if that wasn’t enough, disCerN also have a full length album due for release on Touch of Class later this year that will really showcase all aspects of his musical backgrounds, whilst discern's recent DJ sets have made many people around the world take note thanks to the way he so coherently weave together sounds into captivating dancefloor soundtracks. With more heavy releases and remixes in the works, he is sure to continue the stratospheric rise in the coming weeks and months.
