Dinzel (born Dinzel Clardie’ Jr., January 21, 1966, Southern, CA) is a singer, songwriter, musician, actor, and film maker. Dinzel’s music has been influenced by rock, R&B, soul, funk, rap, smooth jazz, blues, disco, jazz, and hip hop. Dinzel is a self taught keyboard player and his artistic influences include Sly & the Family Stone, Parliament-Funkadelic, Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Miles Davis, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, James Brown, Duke Ellington, Curtis Mayfield, Stevie Wonder, and The Time. Listening to all these great artists inspired him to be an entertainer.
Dinzel began singing and playing instruments at an early age in church and later sang 1st tenor in his high school choir. In 1978 he performed the song "Always and Forever" by the R&B group "Heat Wave" for his elementary classmates. Before there was an internet; a “Star Search”, an “American Idle”, “YouTube”, “My Space”, or “Facebook” Dinzel was trying to get into the entertainment industry, a hard business to break into during those times. Dinzel realized, “It’s not what you knew but, who you knew, and being in the right place at the right time” are not just things people say.
In 1979 Dinzel read an article about the beginning of super star Prince’s music career. The article stated that Prince had been signed to a record contract with Warner Brothers Record Label at age 17, and he was given full creative control of his works. The article also stated that Prince had written, produced, performed and played most of the instruments on the project. Already a fan of Prince since the release of the album “For You” in April of 1978, Dinzel took this newly discovered knowledge about his idle as a hint that he to should be writing, producing and performing his own works.
In 1992 Dinzel created his production company “Clear Cuttz Production”; an Indi Record Label, “Cuttz Records”, and Motion Picture Company, “Clear Pictures”. Dinzel is currently working on music and screenplay projects.
