From the archives: the first ever Digitonal tune by Digitonal published on 2011/12/05 16:45:36 +0000 Found this whilst archiving a load of work on an external drive. This is, I'm pretty sure, the first track that I wrote under the name Digitonal in about 1999. I'd already written a load of stuff under my old name - mostly short film and theatre soundtracks (including the original version of come and play) - but this was the first thing that I wrote with the Digitonal thing in mind. It was written as a round/part song, with the main melody to be played by a string quartet. I'd already done this synth based recording when, just after my first track was released on Toytronic in 2000, I met a quartet and gave them this to try out. Unfortunately, when I tried to get them to play it, they couldn't handle the beats at all. I never bothered doing any more work on it after than and instead, concentrated on the tracks that would become my first album for Toytronic. Interesting side note to that story - Martin from Toytronic came down to hear that rehearsal with the String Quartet which was so dreadful, I was pretty convinced that he wasn't going to release anything of mine again! Prizes for guessing the sample source of some of the beat hits!
